About Rooipoort Before doctors Albert Alberts, Bouwer and Jordaan in Pretoria bought Rooipoort in 1997, the farm was mainly used for sheep farming. The farm was issued to a certain J F Smith in 1837. Rooipoort Farm is situated in an area called the Upper Karoo, a picturesque, unique and semi-arid region in the Northern Cape that comes alive with an abundance of flowers after the first summer rain. The Karoo, with its own special charm, has been the inspiration for many songs, poems and folklore. You can be part of the charm of the Karoo
by visiting Rooipoort, located 30 km east of the town Noupoort
on the road between Colesberg and Middelburg. |
